SRX-R800 Series combines native 4K SXRD technology with longlasting laser light source for outstanding picture quality

Basingstoke, UK ( August 14, 2017 ) -

Sony Digital Cinema 4K confirms the launch of a brand-new family of 4K laser digital cinema projectors.

The SRX-R800 Series is the first digital cinema projection system combining Sony’s latest-generation native 4K SXRD with a long-lasting laser light source. With the latest advances in Sony’s acclaimed SXRD optical panel technology, this achieves a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. This makes all SRX-R800 models the ideal choice for delivering HDR content, giving cinema audiences an even more immersive entertainment experience.

As well as ensuring superb native 4K image quality and natural colour reproduction, laser light technology offers highly efficient ‘lamp free’ operation and speckle free pictures. The long-lasting light source maintains 80% of original brightness levels for up to 35,000 hours of operation(1), dramatically reducing maintenance needs compared with conventional Xenon lamps.

Previewed at this year’s CineEurope event in Barcelona, the SRX-R800 Series includes four(2) DCI-compliant models. Ideal for small and medium sized auditoriums, the SRX-R810P and SRX-R815P are rated at 7,500 lumens and 15,000 lumens respectively. Ideal for larger theatres, the 15,000 lumen SRX-R810DS dual projection system is partnered by the SRX-R815DS with an impressive 30,000 lumen output – plenty for crisp, bright 4K presentation on today’s Premium Large Format (PLF) screens.

All four high-contrast projection systems can be readily configured for 3D screenings, delivering smooth, easy-on-the-eye images without ‘flashing’. The SRX-R810DS and SRX-R815DS dual projection systems make big-screen 3D presentations even easier, with no need for lens swaps.

Projector operation is managed via a large, intuitive 15-inch colour touch panel. Seamless integration with Sony’s and other compliant Theatre Management System allows operators to set up projectors, manage content and create a complete show schedule.

“We’re delighted to give cinema owners an even wider choice of projection options” comments Oliver Pasch, Sales Director, Sony Digital Cinema 4K. “Complementing our highly popular R500 Series, the new R800 Series lets operators enjoy industry-leading Sony 4K image quality with the highest contrast ratio of any SRX series projectors to date, really giving audiences that increased realism in viewing”.

The SRXR815P and SRX-815DS 4K laser digital cinema projectors are available to pre-order now and come to market in Winter 2017, in Europe (3)
