A poignant tribute to the golden age of Las Vegas starring Pamela Anderson in what critics are calling an Academy Award worthy performance
“The Last Showgirl,” a captivating new film directed by Gia Coppola (Palo Alto, Mainstream), invites audiences to step into the glittering world of Las Vegas entertainment through the eyes of Shelley, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. She is portrayed by the iconic Pamela Anderson (“Baywatch,” “Pamela – A Love Story”) in a performance hailed by critics as career-transforming in this tale of resilience, rhinestones and feathers.
The “Last Showgirl” co-stars Oscar, SAG Award and Golden Globe winner Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “Knives Out,” “The Bear”) as Shelley’s best friend, who brings her own unique interpretation and brilliance to the story, Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Dune 2,” “Glass Onion- Knives Out 2”), Brenda Song (“Love, Accidentally,” “Dollface”), Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men,” “Longlegs”) and Billie Lourd (“Ticket to Paradise,” “Booksmart,” “Scream Queens,” “American Horror Story,” “NYC”).
Written by Kate Gersten (“The Good Place,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Schmigadoon”), the film is produced by filmmaker and co-founder of Utopia, Robert Schwartzman (“The Good Half,” “The Unicorn”) and features a new original song “Beautiful That Way,” sung by pop superstar Miley Cyrus, produced by Oscar nominee Andrew Wyatt (“Barbie”) and written by Cyrus, Wyatt and Lykke Zachrisson.
Jamie Lee Curtis Co-Presidents’ Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff remarked “Pamela Anderson will bring some much-needed stardust to the world of cinema this fall in Gia Coppola’s extraordinary film. We are thrilled to join our friends at Utopia to release this film into awards season.”
Utopia’s Robert Schwartzmann says “This has been a very special film since the beginning and continues to attract such incredible talent and collaborators. We couldn’t be more excited than to team up with the passionate and accomplished team at Roadside, who we will continue to build momentum with following our TIFF debut into our upcoming 2024 release.”
