Arts Alliance Media (AAM), the global leader in digital cinema software and services, is to provide Theatre Management System (TMS) software and support to the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

For the duration of the Festival, running in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, Utah, from January 19th – 29th, Sundance Institute will deploy AAM’s Screenwriter TMS at six Sundance Film Festival screening locations, where it will enable staff to schedule content and monitor all screens from one easy to use interface.

AAM’s software will help Sundance Film Festival provide a flawless screening experience to audiences. Screenwriter, installed on around 25,000 cinema screens worldwide, is well designed to cope with the specific demands of film festivals. Issues such as rapid schedule changes, last minute alterations, and multiple screenings across many different screens and sites can make film festivals a test of logistics.

With Screenwriter’s powerful content management it becomes simple for staff to build, edit and schedule playlists, and with built-in proactive error alerts, any problems that may arise can be fixed well before show time. The sheer volume of KDMs (Key Delivery Messages) required for hundreds of titles can also prove a logistical challenge, but Screenwriter’s KDM management capability means that any missing KDMs can be identified early, so replacements can be obtained and one of the most common causes of missed shows avoided.

The Sundance Film Festival selects around 200 feature-length and short films every year, and in 2016 was attended by over 45,000 people. John Aalbers, Chief Executive Officer of Arts Alliance Media, added “The Sundance Film Festival is one of the key events on the festival calendar, and we’re thrilled to be working with such a prestigious event to help ensure that screenings run smoothly. AAM’s TMS software enables Sundance staff to better monitor and manage all festival content and, alongside Screenwriter’s time-saving automation, means that staff have more time to spend with visitors creating an exceptional festival experience.”
