Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s trailblazing Alamo Exclusives program expands this November with its second release, “Littermates,” the darkly comic dystopian feature from directors Scott Tinkham and Michael Woloson. The film will open in over thirty Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide beginning Friday, November 6th.

Ahead of its theatrical release, “Littermates” will receive a special presentation at Fantastic Fest on Sunday, September 20 at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, TX. Kustermann and Festival Director Lisa Dreyer will host a post-screening conversation with directors Tinkham and Woloson, Executive Producer Haley Nicole Johnson, as well as cast members Oliver Woolf and Joey Bader.

An independent film in every sense of the word, “Littermates” turns its production limitations into a defining strength, building an entire dystopian world from one isolated setting, four principal performers, and the suggestion of a war unfolding largely beyond the frame. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2026 Manchester Film Festival and Narrative Feature Audience Award at Dances With Films LA 2026, “Littermates” combines dystopian tension, absurdist humor, and a tightly controlled visual style to create a cinematic mystery about what is real, what is safe, and who can be trusted.

“We made ‘Littermates’ to explore the strange, primal, and often trivial relationship between siblings. At its heart, the film is an unconventional coming-of-age story set against a dystopian backdrop,” say directors Scott Tinkham and Michael Woloson. “We always imagined the film as something to experience with a crowd, so introducing it at Fantastic Fest and then bringing it to audiences around the country through Alamo Exclusives feels like the perfect way to start this next chapter.”

Set against the backdrop of a mysterious war, “Littermates” follows two disoriented survivors who take refuge at an isolated cottage in the English countryside. Liam and Mel arrive bloodied, speechless, and unable to fully understand what has happened to them. They are taken in by Chester, an enigmatic caretaker who feeds them, teaches them to speak again, and establishes a carefully controlled domestic order where good behavior earns “nifties,” tokens that can be exchanged for small comforts including karaoke, hot tub time, dance parties, and favorite meals. As explosions, gunfire, sirens, and karaoke fill the air, their makeshift family begins to fracture – exposing the fear, loyalty, and unanswered questions holding it together.

“Littermates” stars Joey Bader as Liam, Kaylee McGregor as Mel, Oliver Woolf as Chester, and Jack Redmayne as the Stranger. It is written by Tinkham and produced by Woolf, Woloson, Tinkham, and McGregor. Woloson also served as cinematographer and editor, with an original score by Noa Margalit. The film was produced by That’s The Fish, and Haley Nicole Johnson, whose latest credits include “Obsession,” serves as Executive Producer.

McGregor, who anchors the film as the inquisitive and increasingly rebellious Mel while also serving as one of its producers, has since been named President of Production and Development at Sydney Sweeney’s Honey Trap production label.

Announced in July, Alamo Exclusives is a theatrical distribution program through which hand-picked independent films that have found success on the festival circuit but lack distribution receive exclusive engagements across Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide. Alamo Drafthouse provides selected titles with premium presentation, marketing support, and meaningful theatrical exposure. “Littermates” follows the program’s inaugural release, “Butthole Surfers: The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt,” which opened at 38 Alamo Drafthouse locations last month. That film was acquired by Sumerian Pictures, for a theatrical release in theaters everywhere.
