LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ( April 30, 2026 ) -

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have acquired U.S. rights to the horror-thriller “Crawlers,” directed by Angel Gómez Hernández (“Don’t Listen,” “The Boogeyman”) and starring Matilda Lutz (“Revenge,” “Magpie,” “Rings”). A relentless, high-intensity thriller, “Crawlers” plunges audiences into a claustrophobic nightmare of a new breed of spiders, escalating dread and primal fear—where every second counts. The film will open nationwide, October 2, 2026.

Written by Jayson Rothwell (“Polar,” “Silent Night”), “Crawlers” marks the first feature from Badlands, the new collaboration between Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road — the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “John Wick” and Sicario franchises, “Monkey Man, The Town” — and longtime studio executive Scott Strauss (“Resident Evil and Underworld franchise,” “Prom Night,” “The Pope’s Exorcist,” “Training Day”).

In “Crawlers,” Serena (“Lutz”), the overworked and underappreciated manager of the Paradiso Palms apartment complex, discovers a mysterious death. But what begins as a suspected viral outbreak quickly spirals into something far more terrifying a catastrophic infestation of venomous spiders spreading rapidly through the building. Trapped by a quarantine with no way out, residents are forced into a desperate fight for survival as the threat multiplies by the second. Armed only with her intimate knowledge of the building, Serena may be the only one who can keep them alive — if she can confront her deepest fear.

“We knew we wanted ‘Crawlers’ the moment we saw it — it’s a viciously entertaining thrill ride, as fun as it is terrifying,” commented Roadside Attractions Co-Presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff.

“It is said we are never more than three feet from a spider,” added Scott Strauss, Badlands Productions President. “Now they’re coming to a theater near you! The filmmaking team is over the moon to partner with Roadside and Saban on the theatrical release of ‘Crawlers.’”

“‘Crawlers’ is a uniquely visceral horror experience that gets under your skin in the best way possible. It’s a true, unapologetic genre film that delivers the kind of squirm-in-your-seat, racing-heart moments that horror fans live for” said Saban Films Co-Presidents Shanan Becker and Jonathan Saba. “It masterfully blends edge-of-your-seat thrills with the high-octane fun we’ve come to expect from the producers of ‘John Wick.’”

“Crawlers” is a Badlands, Thunder Road, Altitude, Sagesse Productions, Fresco Film, and Renegade Capital Production. Produced by President of Badlands Strauss, Peter Welter (“Spiderman, Far from Home,” “Terminator Dark Fate”), Jayson Rothwell, BasiI Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Academy Award Nominee Alexandra Milchan (“Tar,” “Blackbird,” “The Terror”) and Josh Weinstock (“Nightingale,” “Sleepwalker”). Andrew Schwartzberg (“The Other Lamb”), Jon Shiffman (“American Psycho”) and Diarmaid McGrath (“John Wick Chapter 4”) serve as executive producers.

The deal was negotiated by Roadside Attractions Co-President Howard Cohen and Saban Films Co-President Jonathan Saba; CAA Media Finance negotiated deal on behalf of Badlands.
