The International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA) is proud to announce the third winner of its 2025 ICTA EMEA Awards: The Prince Charles Cinema, London, UK, has been named Best Arthouse Cinema of the Year.
This prestigious award recognises excellence in arthouse cinema programming, technological innovation, and community engagement. The Prince Charles Cinema stood out for its bold, diverse programming slate, fiercely independent spirit, and exceptional ability to thrive in the challenging trading environment of London’s West End.
The award will be presented on 15th June 2025 during ICTA’s annual EMEA Awards Reception in Barcelona, just before the start of CineEurope.

A Legendary Independent Cinema in London’s West End
Originally opened as a live theatre in 1962 and converted into a cinema in the mid-1960s, The Prince Charles Cinema has operated as an independent venue since 1991. It remains the last truly independent cinema in London’s historic cinema district.
The cinema has become internationally renowned for its eclectic programming, combining repertory classics, cult favourites, Hollywood blockbusters, European cinema, and unique events like sing-alongs, film marathons, and 70mm/35mm screenings.
In 2024, The Prince Charles Cinema sold over 250,000 tickets across its two auditoriums, screening more than 850 films and offering an average of 40 different titles per week — an extraordinary record that reflects its vibrant, loyal audience and innovative approach.
