Film puts faith and skepticism to the test
Fathom Miracles are sung about, preached about, and debated. But New York Times bestselling author Lee Strobel sets out to investigate them and put their factual validity to the test. His new feature-length film on the subject, “The Case for Miracles,” is coming to theatres nationwide December 15-18 from Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide.
In “The Case for Miracles,” Strobel shows that miracles are not just wishful thinking or limited to the Bible, but they are credible events still breaking into our modern world — and culminating in the Christmas miracle, just in time for the holiday season. Through gripping interviews, real-life stories, and his own personal reflections, Strobel crafts a case that challenges skeptics and strengthens believers.
Lee Strobel was an atheist. A thriving legal editor at The Chicago Tribune, he set out to investigate the resurrection of Jesus. His confident disbelief was turned on its head. His findings? Faith. Decades later, Strobel continues his investigations as he builds “The Case for Miracles” and asks: Do miracles still happen today? From awe-inspiring wonders to God’s silence in times of suffering, this documentary takes audiences on a remarkable journey. Through stories of people who claim to have experienced the impossible, and experts who cross-examine the evidence, the film challenges skeptics, inspires seekers, and shows that the search for answers can transform us. Follow Lee Strobel and director Mani Sandoval on a cinematic journey into the miraculous.
Recent Barna research shows young adults are now leading a resurgence in church attendance, signaling a renewed openness to the divine and the miraculous. “The Case for Miracles” speaks directly into this hunger, showing that God’s intervention is not only a story of the past, but a reality unfolding today.
“Miracles sit at the heart of faith and line the pages of the Bible, but can we honestly believe that they still occur?” asks NYT best-selling author and producer Lee Strobel.
“In a world where many people hunger for the supernatural, the question is not whether miracles matter, but whether they stand up to honest investigation. In Scripture, the blind see, the lame walk, and even the dead rise. And, remarkably, the evidence shows that the miraculous has not stopped. Miracles continue to happen among us today.”
The film documents astonishing healings, such as Barbara Snyder, who was on her deathbed from Multiple Sclerosis when she was instantaneously cured, and a university research team in Mozambique that captured scientific evidence of healings from blindness and deafness.
“This film comes from a very personal place,” said director Mani Sandoval. “Bringing these extraordinary stories to the big screen in a way that feels both credible and deeply human is vital. Our hope is that audiences leave the theater lighter than when they arrived, carrying with them a renewed sense of possibility, where moments of wonder and grace are still unfolding in our world today.”
Ray Nutt, Fathom Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Fathom is so very pleased to continue working with Lee and Sandoval Studios in bringing their provocative and compelling content to theatres, with ‘The Case for Miracles’ representing the latest project coming to the big screen following our shared success on 2017’s ‘The Case for Christ’ and 2022’s ‘The Case for Heaven.’”
