Christie projection to power screenings across the 79th edition of the Festival

CANNES, FRANCE ( May 14, 2026 ) -

Christie will serve as the official technical partner for the 79th Festival de Cannes, running from May 12-23, marking 20 years of partnership between Christie and one of the most influential events in global cinema. As some of the biggest and brightest names in cinema gather for the 79th edition, Christie will help illuminate stories that move the world using its RealLaser, Phazer and Xenon cinema projection technologies.

“Festival de Cannes occupies a truly special place in the global cinema industry, and we’re honoured to have played a part for 20 years,” says Adil Zerouali, vice president of sales, EMEA, Christie. “Supporting the Festival year after year reflects our long‑standing commitment to cinema and to delivering projection performance that meets the highest creative and technical expectations, whether on the world’s biggest stages or in more intimate screening environments.”

Christie CP4435-RGB projectors, featuring RealLaser RGB pure laser illumination technology, will power screenings in the Grand Théâtre Lumière, the Debussy room, and La Plage, the Festival’s outdoor cinema on the beach. Across the Festival, Xenon-based projectors will be deployed in the Lérins and Riviera theatres, while projectors with Phazer hybrid laser illumination technology will light smaller screen auditoriums. All of these projectors are equipped with the latest CineLife+ software, which provides advanced technical features and ensures smooth operation during the show.

The 2026 program includes several highly anticipated premieres, among them Pedro Almodóvar’s “Bitter Christmas”, marking the acclaimed director’s return to Cannes following previous Best Director and Best Screenplay wins. The Festival will also screen James Gray’s “Paper Tigers”, starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, alongside John Travolta’s directorial debut “Propeller One‑Way Night Coach”.
