Digital Cinema Systems Corporation (DigiCine), a Los Angeles based solutions provider to movie exhibitors has been a leading advocate in the drive to extend the life of older projection equipment, a message that seems to be gaining traction in 2019 which saw them host a panel discussion on this topic at this years’ CinemaCon.
There are a significant number of movie exhibitors who invested in Series 1 projectors which are still running today. However, the original media players are reaching the end of their useful lives and not all exhibitors are ready or willing to purchase new projectors.
To address this together with the lack of replacement options / feature enhancements on media players for Series 1 projectors, the DigiCine media player range includes a media player backward compatible with Series 1 projectors.
“The industry trade show at CineEurope next week provides us a further opportunity to articulate the benefits of deferring expensive projector replacement decisions” said Karl Anderson, DigiCine’s CEO, going on to say “Were looking forward to a great show, meeting prospective end users and potential installation partners throughout Europe.”
Building further on their reputation of providing feature rich easy to use solutions, DigiCine will be demonstrating their media players’ enhanced user interface. The improved functionality in release 126.96.36.199 focuses on automation and scheduling tasks and is aimed at those movie exhibitors who want to use the DigiCine media player in ‘stand-alone mode’ (i.e. without a TMS).
