New York ( October 4, 2022 ) -

ShowEast is proud to announce that global box office data leader, Comscore, will present the 2022 International Box Office Achievement Awards for LATAM and the 2022 Domestic Box Office Achievement Award at this year’s convention to be held from October 17th – 20th at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

“We are very excited to be returning to Miami and the Loews hotel for ShowEast 2022. Unfortunately, the pandemic has forced us to cancel the last two editions of the event, but we look forward to bringing the industry together in October.” stated Andrew Sunshine, Co-Managing Director of ShowEast. “Being able to once again work with our partners at Comscore and present the Boxoffice Achievement Awards is very rewarding” continued Sunshine.

“It is invigorating to be back in Miami after the challenges of the last several years. This year demonstrates the incredible resilience of our industry,” said Arturo Guillen, Global Managing Director, Comscore Movies. “Comscore is honored to partner with both distribution and exhibition as we recover and set new industry standards.”

The award for 2022 International Box Office Achievement will be presented during this year’s opening day luncheon to Universal Pictures. Universal is the highest-grossing studio in LATAM this year with over $300m in box office. Universal also holds the 2022 record for the most tickets sold for a single film in LATAM. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” sold over 35m tickets in this region.

Comscore is pleased to be able to recognize a LATAM locally produced film as well. This year, the 2022 Box Office Award for a local title will be awarded to “El Exorcismo de Dios” and producer Adriana Ortega Arratia. “El Exorcismo de Dios” is the highest grossing local title in 2022 with over $5.8m in box office and over 1.8m admissions. “It is a privilege and an honor to partner with both a major studio and a local producer in LATAM,” said Guillen. “We congratulate both Universal and Adriana on these well-deserved awards. You are both paving a path toward a vibrant future in our industry.”

Domestically, Comscore is thrilled to present the 2022 Box Office Achievement award to Paramount Pictures. Paramount released “Top Gun: Maverick” on May 27th and it has grossed almost $715m domestically. “‘Top Gun: Maverick’ spurred movie-going early in the summer and brought older audiences back to the theatre at a critical time,” said Mike Viane, Head of Global Revenue, Comscore Movies. “I couldn’t think of a more deserving studio or movie for the 2022 Domestic award”. After opening to a $160m four-day holiday weekend, Top Gun: Maverick grossed $1m or more for seventy-five consecutive days in the domestic marketplace.
