Secure Digital Platform Enables Creation of Curated Channels at Low Cost; Global Roll-Out Includes Affordable Channel Creation for Audience Development
Cinenso, developer of secure content technology, today announced the launch of its Cinenso Channel platform, which enables curators – including scholars, rights holders and programmers – to create channels for film screenings, discussions, and archival content. Cinenso offers a secure platform, with multi-digital rights management (DRM), and payment infrastructure and storage at a nominal cost for global programmers of independent film content, from short films to niche genre films. Basic costs for a channel are $19/month, and higher tiers include multi-DRM, encoding, with up to 500 invitations. Cinenso Channel creators earn subscription revenue from followers and from referrals, with a revenue share.
Cinenso will offer a limited number of free 60-day subscriptions, and will provide awardees of film festivals with three months of free access to the Cinenso Pro Plan to promote their latest films, invite viewers to members-only screenings and promote to the public. Cinenso has already been used by more than a dozen global film festivals – including the Barcelona International Short Film Festival 2020; The SoHo London Independent Film Festival, and the QFest 2020 Festival – and will continue to expand its support for festival programmers and attendees.
The Cinenso Channel offering provides consumers a low-cost way to follow film conversations and attend screenings that are typically attached to film societies, academic circles, and festival-associated content.

Unlike its competitors, Cinenso offers subscribers the ability to discover different channels and become part of the community of the most current occurring events. Cinenso augments existing curator efforts to promote their channels. Curators earn 70% of the net price of passes sold. Curators may pay a fee or a revenue share to filmmakers and rights holders. Other noted film curators who have created Cinenso Channel offerings include Wim Vanacker, editorial consultant for the First Cut Lab and member of the selection committee at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as Léo Soesanto, head of the short films selection committee for Critic’s Week at the Cannes Film Festival.

HOW CINENSO CHANNELS WORK
Cinenso Channels are created by curators to showcase their tastes according to theme, character, and areas of expertise. Curators can show feature films, bundles of short movies and a live streaming event for audiences each week in bundles that are labelled as programs. The programs can be made public or member-only; member-only programs are only available for members of a particular channel. Weekly programs can be scheduled throughout the year, with public programs made available to the general public through a purchased pass.
Passes are sold separately for each program. Subscribers who are not members of a particular channel can access the current weekly public program for a channel for a nominal monthly fee. But they must pay to view any archived programs. Cinenso Channel members receive free access to all programs hosted by a Channel.
Cinenso Channel members gain access to previously screened programs for free; non-members must purchase a pass to view archival programs. Curators set the price and can limit how long the program is made available. The minimum price for a program is $2 USD. A program can be available for purchase for up to 6 months.
Standardized on Amazon Web Services, Cinenso supports DRM from Widevine, Microsoft PlayReady, and Apple FairPlay, and integrated Stripe for payment management. Cinenso supports all current streaming standards and most popular browsers.
