CineAsia's 25th Anniversary
Hong Kong, China ( November 5, 2019 ) -

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML) and the city’s official tourism promotion organisation Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) extend our warmest welcome to honourable participants of CineAsia 2019 to Hong Kong. We appreciate you may have concern over recent public activities in Hong Kong. We would like to offer you some important facts below.

Since June 2019, business in Hong Kong has been conducted as usual.

Cross border sea and land transportation are convenient as ever, with multiple road and ferry connections, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and the High Speed Rail. The Hong Kong Airport, after a short interruption early August, and flights in and out of Hong Kong have since resumed completely normal. Access control measures have been implemented at the Airport terminal buildings to ensure smooth operation. Hotels, restaurants and shops, banks, internet connection and other services operate as normal.

The HKCEC has also been operating busily as normal every day and 46 exhibitions were held here between June and October, casting their vote of confidence in Hong Kong as the long standing position of Trade Fair Capital of Asia. All international trade shows scheduled, including mega scale September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (18 – 22 September) and HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair and electronicAsia (13-16 October) brought hundreds of thousands of participants from Mainland China and all over the world. Many more exhibitions are expected from now till end of 2019, including the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair and Cosmoprof Asia when large numbers of exhibitors and visitors from Mainland and worldwide are expected.

Participating exhibitors and buyers from overseas continued to attend Hong Kong exhibitions and were able to secure new contacts and business opportunities. The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair and electronicAsia, which just concluded two weeks ago, attracted more than 4,313 exhibiting companies, including 2,686 from Mainland China, and over 67, 000 buyers from 141 countries and regions.

“We’ve received positive responses on the first day of exhibition and met with buyers from different places such as Brazil, Russia and Germany. We had heard about the demonstrations in Hong Kong before our arrival. But we found that things are generally quiet here. We went out last night to stroll around near our hotel and everything has been fine. We feel very safe being here.”
