Oscar for Distribution and Theaters, one of Egypt’s oldest and largest cinema operators and distributors, and France’s Ōma Cinema today announced an exclusive signing agreement to introduce Egypt’s first Ōma theater. This revolutionary architectural concept arrives as a defining element of Oscar’s most ambitious project to date: the launch of its new cinema chain, Beam Cinemas. This venture will redefine the regional cinematic landscape, debuting with a flagship multiplex at the TANZA entertainment destination.
The launch of Beam Cinemas marks a new era for Oscar for Distribution and Theaters. Building on a decades-long legacy of leadership in the Egyptian film industry, the company is positioning Beam Cinemas as a premium brand that will set a new benchmark for luxury and immersion in Egypt. The flagship multiplex will be a primary anchor within TANZA, the 250,000 sqm next-generation entertainment development launched by Magic Land Al-Hokair in partnership with Egyptian Media Production City. With total investments for the TANZA destination reaching EGP 12 billion to date, the project is set to become one of the largest integrated entertainment destinations in Egypt and the Middle East, providing a world-class stage for Oscar’s most ambitious exhibition venture.
The project aims to redefine leisure and entertainment in Egypt through a multi-zone concept including adventure attractions, racing, sports games, forest experiences, cinema and theatre, children’s areas and a dolphinarium, alongside a curated selection of restaurants and lifestyle offerings.
The exclusive agreement with Ōma Cinema brings a world-first “vertical” design to Egypt, providing a sophisticated alternative to traditional layouts through its signature “pod” architecture. “This agreement marks the introduction of the Ōma concept in Egypt for the first time,” said Pierre Chican, CEO of Ōma Cinema. “We are proud to expand our footprint alongside Oscar for Distribution and Theaters, the ideal partner to implement this landmark project and elevate audience expectations across Egypt.”
Integrating the Ōma auditorium under this exclusive arrangement is a central pillar of Oscar’s growth strategy for its new brand. “We are delighted to introduce the first Beam Cinemas as part of our broader strategy to bring world-class premium experiences to the Egyptian market,” added Loaye Abdalla, Managing Director at Oscar for Distribution and Theaters. “As one of the country’s most established operators, this exclusive signing with Ōma Cinema allows us to pair our history of excellence with futuristic innovation, positioning Beam Cinemas as a leader from day one.”
Oscar for Distribution and Theaters is a premier division of the Oscar Group, a powerhouse in Egyptian media active in film production, distribution, and theater exhibition. The group owns one of the largest Arabic content libraries in the world and continues to be a driving force in the national entertainment industry.
The Beam Cinemas multiplex, featuring the exclusively licensed Ōma auditorium, is expected to open next year as part of the TANZA development.
