A new era of moviegoing is coming to Greater Houston. Star Cinema Grill announced today that its Cypress location is undergoing a major transformation, headlined by the arrival of an all-new IMAX with Laser theatre opening November 18.

Star Cinema Grill began expanding premium large-format moviegoing within its dine-in concept when it introduced the Samsung Onyx screen at Star Cinema Grill Richmond. Building on the success of that auditorium, Star Cinema Grill Cypress will become the only dine-in cinema in the Houston area to offer IMAX, pairing IMAX’s immersive presentation with full-service dining and the hospitality guests expect from Star Cinema Grill.

The transformation extends beyond IMAX, with a refreshed look throughout the Cypress theatre and new luxury seating across its auditoriums. Upgrades include plush heated recliners, massage seating and premium Privacy Pods, creating an elevated moviegoing experience designed around comfort, dining and entertainment.

“Star Cinema Grill was born in Houston, and the support this community has given us over the years has allowed us to keep evolving,” said Omar Khan, Founder & CEO of Star Cinema Grill. “For years, moviegoers often had to choose between the food, service and hospitality of a dine-in cinema and the premium presentation of a large-format theatre. At Cypress, we’re bringing those experiences together: IMAX with Laser, luxury recliners with heat and massage features, and full-service dining. We want a movie to feel like a complete night out, and we’re grateful to our guests for giving us the opportunity to keep raising the bar.”

IMAX With Laser
IMAX with Laser is a next-generation 4K laser projection and multi-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX theatres. The technology delivers crystal-clear images with increased resolution, deeper contrast and an expansive range of colors, paired with IMAX precision sound for greater clarity, depth and audio immersion throughout the theatre.

The Biggest Movies Are Coming To Cypress
The new IMAX theatre will debut during the opening weekend of “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” November 18–22, kicking off an exciting slate of blockbuster IMAX releases through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.

Other 2026 highlights include “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth” IMAX exclusive, “George Michael: The Faith Tour Concert Film” with IMAX exclusive early previews, and “Dune: Part Three.”

Tickets are now on sale for “Dune: Part Three,” giving Greater Houston moviegoers the opportunity to be among the first to experience one of the most anticipated films on the new IMAX screen at Star Cinema Grill Cypress.

The transformed Star Cinema Grill Cypress is located at 8920 Fry Road, Cypress, Texas 77433.
