New software for improved contrast and increased laser efficiency to be showcased at CinemaCon 2026
Christie is pleased to announce the launch of Christie VDR, a software-based performance upgrade for CineLife+ Series cinema projectors with RealLaser illumination at CinemaCon 2026.
Enabled through a simple software update, VDR brings a new dimension to the cinematic experience through precise interframe laser power control to achieve on-screen contrast of up to 10,000:1 with a UHC lens, or 5,000:1 with a high brightness lens. The approach reveals new levels of dark detail and texture in every scene without requiring additional hardware.
Beyond the screen, VDR reduces laser power consumption by up to 30%, and increases laser lifetime of the projectors by up to 50%, lowering the total cost of ownership for exhibitors.
“VDR offers an experience like no other,” says Allan Fernandes, senior product manager, Christie. “It’s designed to deliver measurable gains in both image performance and efficiency using our existing CineLife+ platform.”
Attendees are invited to learn more about VDR and how they can see a real-world demonstration of the software by visiting Christie in Milano 1 during CinemaCon, from April 13-16 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
