
The total revenue for February reached £100,732,014, which represents a 20% increase compared to the £83.8m recorded in February 2024. So far this year, we are tracking 15% ahead of 2024 and 21% ahead of 2023.
Universal claims the top spot in February with “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” contributing £38.3m for the month and ranking as the top film of the year so far. The latest instalment in the franchise debuted with £12.2m, the biggest opening of the franchise, surpassing the £10.4m opening of 2004’s “Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason.” It has now also surpassed that title’s lifetime total of £36.0m and is steadily closing in on the totals of “Bridget Jones’s Diary” (£42.0m) and “Bridget Jones’s Baby” (£48.2m). The new chapter achieved a 4.5-star rating in our PostTrak exit poll and an impressive 96% Total Positive score among female audiences.
At No.2 for February and the year to date, “Captain America: Brave New World” brought in £16.1m. The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has surpassed the lifetime gross of “Eternals” (£14.8m) and is close behind “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” (£19.3m). According to our PostTrak survey, the franchise played a key role in drawing in audiences, with 82% of respondents having seen previous titles in the franchise.
Securing the No.3 position for the month, DreamWorks Animation’s “Dog Man” has grossed £12.1m to date. The animation has passed the lifetime of last year’s “The Garfield Movie,” which grossed £9.0m, and is just behind “The Wild Robot’s” £13.9m.
Still holding strongly from its December debut, “Mufasa: The Lion King” is at No.4, contributing an additional £3.2m in February. Barry Jenkins’ prequel now has a total to date of £32.8m, passing the likes of The Incredibles (£32.3m) and Shrek Forever After (£32.6m) in the all-time chart.
Rounding out the top 5 is a third title for Disney, with “A Complete Unknown” bringing in a further £2.8m during the month. James Mangold’s drama has a total to date of £12.0m and it ranks as the fourth-biggest release for the director. It has surpassed both “Knight & Day” (£9.7m) and “Walk The Line” (£10.3m), and is currently just behind 2013’s “The Wolverine” (£13.0m) which holds third position.
“The Monkey” ranks sixth for the month with a total of £2.4m after two weeks on release. Osgood Perkins’ horror is the fourth-biggest release from distributor Black Bear and their second-biggest horror release, ahead of “Immaculate” (£1.7m) and only behind Perkins’ “Longlegs” (£8.0m), the distributor’s second-biggest release to date.
“Sonic The Hedgehog 3” remains in the chart after ten weeks on release, grossing an additional £1.9m in February. Jeff Fowler’s animated sequel has a total of £26.2m to date and is currently tracking only 3% behind “Sonic The Hedgehog 2’s” £27.0m, on track to claim the top spot of the franchise.
Following its awards success, “The Brutalist” ranks eighth for the month, bringing in a total of £1.5m. Brady Corbet’s epic has a total to date of £3.6m.
Tim Fehlbaum’s drama “September 5” is at No.9 for the month with a total of £1.4m.
An Event Cinema release closes the monthly chart with “The Importance Of Being Earnest – NT Live 2025” achieving a total gross of £1.3m to date.
March Preview
The month begins with Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17” (Warner), the Keke Palmer/SZA-starring comedy “One Of Them Days” (Sony) and British action-comedy “Marching Powder” (True Brit) all opening from today (7th). Following that we have Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller “Black Bag” (Universal), fantasy adventure “In The Lost Lands” (Studiocanal) featuring Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista, the survival thriller “Last Breath” (Entertainment) and Mark Anthony Green’s directorial debut “Opus” (Warner) all debuting on 14th. On the following weekend, we have the biographical crime drama starring Robert De Niro “The Alto Knights” (Warner) and live-action remake Disney’s “Snow White” (Disney) opening on 21st. The month closes with Jack Quaid-led action thriller “Novocaine” (Paramount), the psychological horror “The Woman In The Yard” (Universal) and Jason Statham’s latest action picture “A Working Man” (Warner) all debuting on 28th.
