Trafalgar Releasing, the global leader in event cinema distribution, has announced key marketing leadership appointments and new hires, following a record-setting year for the company in 2024, marked by a diverse slate of globally resonant content and an unprecedented number of events. The revised structure is designed to fuel continued growth through impactful international partnerships and an expanded focus on marketing, industry relationships, and ancillary revenue.
Building on its success as the international distributor for 2023’s blockbuster concert films “Taylor Swift| The Eras Tour” and “Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé,” both in partnership with AMC Theatres Distribution, Trafalgar Releasing sustained its momentum in 2024 with a company-record slate of 57 global events.
Highlights include the 15th-anniversary re-release of Laika’s “Coraline,” which grossed $21 million internationally (ex. US) and outperformed its original 2009 release in several markets; “SUGA?Agust D Tour ‘D-day’ the Movie,” the top-grossing concert film of 2024 with $10.5 million in global revenue; and the Donmar Warehouse’s acclaimed production of “Macbeth,” starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo, which earned over $4 million worldwide. Additional successes included “The Chosen: Last Supper,” which brought in more than $12 million globally (ex. US); the widely acclaimed restoration of “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII” in partnership with Sony Music Vision, which entered the top ten at the worldwide box office on opening weekend; and the $4.6 million re-release of Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto’s “Interstella 5555.”
Paul Dergarabedian, Senior Media Analyst for Comscore, remarked, “Trafalgar Releasing is at the forefront of event cinema, delivering incredible music and limited run events to enthusiastic audiences around the world. The diverse array of content presented by Trafalgar represents not only a commitment to the artists and rightsholders who are able to reach and engage a global fanbase but also delivers real value to cinemas by attracting new customers and driving box office success.”
To position the company for its next stage of growth, Trafalgar Releasing announces several strategic appointments and team expansions:
Trafalgar Releasing Chairman, David Lazar, emphasised, “Trafalgar continues to set the benchmark for what’s possible in event cinema.
