"The Met: Live in HD" is available through Fathom Entertainment in more than 700 theatres nationwide
The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season concludes on Saturday, May 30, at 1 PM ET, with “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” by 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Music– and Latin Grammy Award–winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank and Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Nilo Cruz, both making their Met debuts. Deborah Colker directs the Met premiere, which is conducted by the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The opera’s magical-realist plot imagines Frida Kahlo returning from the underworld on the Mexican Day of the Dead to confront her unfaithful husband, Diego Rivera, and relive their tumultuous love. The opera is sung in Spanish.
The opera stars three-time Grammy Award–winning mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as Frida and baritone Carlos Álvarez as Diego. The cast also features soprano Gabriella Reyes as Catrina, mistress of the underworld, and countertenor Nils Wanderer as the artist Leonardo in his Met debut.
In addition to Colker, the creative team includes set and co-costume designer Jon Bausor, co-costume designer Wilberth Gonzalez in his Met debut, and lighting designer Adam Silverman.
Fathom Entertainment will also present two encores of “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” in theatres on Wednesday, June 3, at 1:00PM and 6:30PM local time.
