London, UK ( January 26, 2023 ) -

Kaleidoscope Entertainment are excited to announce that they have scored UK distribution rights to bring the stage recording of the award-winning, West End hit “Heathers: The Musical”, to over 200 cinemas nationwide on 28th March. A home entertainment release will follow.

The one-night-only event will showcase the live recording captured in the show’s original London home, The Other Palace. The recording features some of the incredible 2022 cast including musical leading lady Ailsa Davidson as Veronica Sawyer, Simon Gordon as J.D., Maddison Firth as Heather Chandler, Vivian Panka as Heather Duke, Teleri Hughes as Heather McNamara.

Based on the 1989 cult classic film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, the musical adaptation follows Westerberg High student Veronica Sawyer, whose dreams of popularity finally start to come true when she’s taken under the wings of the three beautiful, yet impossibly cruel Heathers. But when mysterious new kid, teen rebel J.D arrives in town, Veronica realises that whilst it might kill to be a nobody, it’s murder being a somebody…

In bringing this cultural phenomenon to cinemas across the country Kaleidoscope Entertainment’s CEO Spencer Pollard said, “We’re very excited to be working with BLK Entertainment, Lakeshore and Village Roadshow on this brilliant filmed live show. We can’t wait for audiences across the country to enjoy it with us.”

As the stage show continues to receive critical acclaim during its run at The Other Palace and multiple tours, the team are excited to share it with fans old and new again through the theatrical release. Director Andy Fickman said, “Heathers has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many people in the UK since it was first produced here in 2018. This marks an exciting next step in the show’s journey.”

Bill Kenwright’s BKStudios produce, along with Village Roadshow Pictures (VRP), Fickman, Murphy and O’Keefe. The film has been created by Steam Motion and Sound, who are also currently working on screen captures of “Waitress”, “Bonnie and Clyde” and “The Prince of Egypt”.

Excited about the UK release Director Andy Fickman said “Directing “Heathers: The Musical” has been a career high for me. So when we got a chance to film the Stage Capture at our beloved theatre in London where it all began – The Other Palace – that was an even bigger high – and thanks to our partners at Bill Kenwright Studios, Village Roadshow and now Kaleidoscope we get a chance to share that the magic at cinemas all across the UK – I can’t stop smiling and I hope audiences feel the same way!”

The stage recording cast is completed by Mhairi Angus as Martha Dunnstock and Vicki Lee Taylor as Ms Fleming / Veronica’s mum, Liam Doyle as Kurt Kelly and Rory Phelan as Ram Sweeney. Andy Brady, Oliver Brooks, Jermaine Woods, Benjamin Karran, Chris Parkinson, Eleanor Morrison-Halliday, Mary-Jean Caldwell, Hannah Lowther and May Tether complete the line-up.

About Heathers: The Musical
Wickedly funny, with dazzling book, music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominated, “Legally Blonde” composer, Laurence O’Keefe, and Emmy-winning Reefer Madness author Kevin Murphy, “Heathers: the Musical” is directed by acclaimed screen and stage director Andy Fickman, with electrifying choreography by Gary Lloyd (Thriller Live, Carrie, 20th Century Boy).

The live recording was captured in its original London home, The Other Palace where the stage show made its U.K. debut in 2018. In addition to the live recording and West End shows, the production’s UK tour will also be travelling across the country this year!
