HeyLED, the cinema LED technology developed by Timewaying, has been selected for the first Magnova premium large-format auditorium in India.

The 14-metre 4K DCI-approved direct-view LED screen is also India’s first acoustic-transparent HeyLED cinema display. Supplied by Timewaying and delivered through its exclusive India partner, UFO Moviez – Cinema Solutions, the installation combines direct-view LED with Dolby Atmos and Pulz cinema speakers at the new Magic Frames complex in Kochi.

The project introduces a new approach to premium cinema, built around the capabilities of direct-view LED rather than traditional projection.

Picture and Sound, Together

Unlike projection, HeyLED generates the image directly from the LED display, delivering consistent brightness, deep blacks and high contrast without losses caused by projection lenses, throw distance or screen reflection.

The 14-metre 4K display offers contrast of up to 60,000:1, DCI-P3 colour performance and 16-bit processing, with HDR support and auditorium-calibrated brightness.

Its acoustic-transparent design allows cinema speakers to be positioned directly behind the screen, keeping sound aligned with the image. Across the HeyLED range, open area can reach up to 23%, allowing sound to pass through the display while maintaining cinema-grade image performance.

At Magnova, this architecture is combined with Dolby Atmos immersive audio and Pulz cinema speakers to create a fully integrated picture-and-sound experience.

“HeyLED is designed to give exhibitors greater freedom in how they build the cinema around the screen. Its acoustic-transparent architecture allows speakers to be positioned directly behind the LED image, so dialogue, music and sound effects can originate from the corresponding position on screen, creating more precise sound orientation and a stronger connection between picture and sound,” said Kenny Chow, CTO of Timewaying.

Designed for Premium Cinema

The Magnova auditorium supports both 2D and 3D presentation, including active-shutter 3D. Its high-brightness LED architecture also enables applications beyond feature films, including premieres, live events, esports and corporate presentations.

HeyLED screens are engineered for long-term cinema operation, with an operational lifespan of up to 100,000 hours. The standard warranty is three years, with options to extend coverage up to ten years.

UFO Moviez – Cinema Solutions, HeyLED’s exclusive India partner, supported the local delivery and integration of the system.
