GDC Upgrades Premium Cinemas in China, USA and Vietnam to DTS Surround Cinema

GDC announced that the rollout of DTS Surround has begun with 7 cinema halls either installed or committed to installing DTS Surround Cinema

GDC Technology Limited (‘GDC’), a leading global provider of digital cinema solutions, announced today that the rollout of DTS Surround has begun with seven cinema halls either installed or committed to installing DTS Surround Cinema including five cinema halls in China, one in the United States and one in Vietnam. In the US, the LOOK Dine-In Cinema Glendale in the Los Angeles area is the first theatre to upgrade its largest auditorium to DTS Surround Cinema. In Vietnam, CGV Vincom Grand Park will feature DTS Surround Cinema in one hall when it opens. The cinema is located in Ho Chi Minh City within the Vincom Mega Mall Grand Park and is scheduled to have its soft opening in late April 2024. The five cinemas in China include:

  • Capital Cinema, Beijing
  • China Film Cinema (Dang Shi Guan CINITY), Beijing
  • Lumière Beijing Parkview Green Cinema, Beijing
  • SFC Cinema (Metro City), Shanghai
  • Xing Bo International Theatre, Tianjin

    • In addition, the Lumière Pavilions have entered a Strategic Framework Cooperation with GDC to upgrade 20 cinema halls within two years.

    Two Powerful GDC Solutions to Support DTS Surround Cinema

    In August 2021, GDC introduced new media servers with a built-in cinema audio processor option based on the architecture of the SGS-certified SR-1000 IMB. This year, surround bass management for DTS Surround Cinema was incorporated into the media server.

    Additionally, GDC will unveil its AIB-3000 16-channel DTS Surround audio processor with bass management at CinemaCon. The AIB-3000 is a standalone 5.1, 7.1, and 15.1 cinema audio processor compatible with all current and legacy media servers. The AIB-3000 can also create a sensational surround sound experience for certified DTS Surround Cinema auditoriums by achieving precise sound system calibration and full-range surround speakers with its enhanced bass management.
