Christie Showcases the Latest Cinema Technologies for Engaging Audiences at the 71st Australian International Movie Convention

Gold Coast, Australia ( October 10, 2016 ) -

Christie, a leader in creating and delivering the world’s best visual and audio experiences, is showcasing the latest cinema technologies designed to engage audiences at the 71st Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC), taking place at the Pavilion Marquee, Jupiters Hotel & Casino in Gold Coast, Australia, October 9-13.

On show at the Christie stand #25/32 is the cost-effective and compact Christie CP2208 digital cinema projector, which takes superior performance coupled with flexibility and affordability to a new level. Ideal for screens up to 35 feet, the DCI-compliant CP2208 is capable of displaying 3D, High Frame Rate (HFR), alternative and local content, providing a versatile and reliable platform that offers an attractive total cost of ownership.

As the gold sponsor of this prestigious event, Christie is proud to provide the Christie CP2220 DLP digital cinema projector for movie screenings conducted throughout the convention. Purpose-built for exhibitors, the Christie CP2220 delivers 22,000 lumens with a 3kW lamp in a cost-effective, compact solution for flexible mounting, servicing and installation. In addition, it has been designed to allow a convenient field upgrade to 4K, providing exhibitors with an additional return on their investment.

“As a strong supporter of Australian cinema and the leader of cinema technologies, we are pleased to showcase the latest cinema solutions to our customers and partners in the Australian cinema exhibition industry; in particular, state-of-the-art projection systems powered by laser illumination,” said Michael Bosworth, General Manager, Christie Australia. “On display is the CP2208-LP, which offers long life, minimal maintenance and a low cost of operation. If you’re looking for the brightest images, the purest colours and the best 3D visual experiences, our RGB laser technology is the perfect choice for engaging audiences and delivering the best cinematic experiences in premium large format cinemas.”

Lin Yu, Vice President, Christie Asia Pacific, noted, “Christie is committed in helping Australian exhibitors maximise returns on their investments, provide movie-goers with the best possible visual and audio experience, and at the same time, reinforce Christie’s position as a leader in the digital cinema market. Our laser projection technology, which comprises laser phosphor and RGB laser systems that have been widely embraced by exhibitors around the world, is one area that we are focusing on to further the growth of Australia’s cinema industry.”

Hoyts Cinema Technology Group, which has worked with Christie on a number of cinema-related projects in Australia and New Zealand, has a static display of a Christie CP2208-LP laser phosphor cinema projector in its stand at #33/34. The CP2208-LP eliminates the need for lamp replacements, and drastically reduces the cost and time associated with maintenance, consumables and downtime.

Another attraction at the Christie stand is a cinema lobby display comprising a Christie FHQ842-T 84” UHD interactive LCD flat panel used for displaying exciting visual contents. Designed for deployment in lobbies, boardrooms and meeting rooms, this large-format UHD panel is well equipped with 10-point multi-touch capability, built-in speakers and future proofed with an OPS slot. The value of this flat panel is rounded out with Christie’s renowned service and support, for complete peace of mind.

Besides offering a complete range of cinema and experiential digital signage solutions for theatre lobbies, Christie also runs a network operations centre in Melbourne that serves as the central hub for cinema support activities. Known as the Christie-ICAA Network Operations Centre (NOC), it serves as the central hub for cinema support activities in Australia and New Zealand. The NOC provides 24/7 monitoring of hardware such as projectors, players, IMBs, theater management systems and networks that connect all these components, and offers round-the-clock telephone support for all technical issues, including day-to-day operational questions.
