Mister Smith to represent the international rights, launching in Cannes
Bleecker Street has partnered with long-time collaborator LD Entertainment to acquire U.S. rights to Mercedes Bryce Morgan’s (“Fixation,” “Spoonful of Sugar”) darkly hilarious, seductive survival thriller “Bone Lake” starring Marco Pigossi (“High Tide,” “Gen V”), Maddie Hasson (“Elevation,” “Twisted”), Alex Roe (“The 5th Wave,” “Hot Summer Nights”) and Andra Nechita (“Matlock”, “The Sex Lives of College Girls”). The film premiered to critical acclaim at Fantastic Fest in 2024 and currently boasts a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Bleecker Street will release the film in theaters nationwide on October 10th. In addition, Mister Smith has come on board to represent the international rights to the film, beginning in Cannes in May. This follows Mister Smith’s recent collaboration with LD Entertainment on “Dangerous Animals,” premiering at Directors’ Fortnight.
In “Bone Lake,” a couple’s romantic vacation at a secluded lakeside estate is upended when they are forced to share the mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple. In this darkly hilarious and seductive horror story, a dream getaway spirals into a nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation, bringing terrifying secrets to light and triggering a bloody battle for survival.
“Bone Lake” is produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, and Jacob Yakob for LD Entertainment, along with Joshua Friedlander and Jason Blumenfeld. Executive producers include Mehrdod Heydari and Joseph Yakob for LD Entertainment, as well as Alex Roe. The deal was negotiated by Bleecker Street’s Avy Eschenasy and Miranda King, with LD’s Michael Glassman and UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
“Bone Lake” is the latest in a series of collaborations between Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment, with previous titles including “I.S.S.,” “Teen Spirit,” “Megan Leavey,” and “Anthropoid.” The film is also Bleecker’s latest in a continued expansion into the genre space, following the 2024 release of Andrew Cumming’s acclaimed prehistoric horror-thriller “Out of Darkness” and upcoming creepypasta adaptation “The Third Parent” starring Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Roselyn Sanchez, currently in post-production and set for an early 2026 release.
