The acclaimed cinema-eatery is the perfect destination for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day, with a unique mix of February’s biggest releases, classic films filled with romance, and signature events guests won’t find anywhere else.
Love is in the air and that is no more apparent than at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. This year, it’s commemorating Valentine’s Day by celebrating all the things couples can enjoy together with a “You Are The Chips To My Queso” theme – most notably melted cheese and good films. In addition to a cheesy slate of rom-coms and tales of undying love, Alamo Drafthouse will offer discounts on gift cards, a limited-time menu made to share, an exclusive limited-edition pin set to split with your valentine, a chance to win free Chips & Queso for a year, special events at select locations, and a few more fun surprises.
“Over the past 25 years, dinner and movie dates at Alamo Drafthouse have sparked hundreds of marriages and lifelong relationships,” says Chaya Rosenthal, Vice President of Marketing at Alamo Drafthouse. “This Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day we are celebrating the amazing experience of sharing great food and a great film with someone you love.”
Guests eager to share their love of cinema with that special someone need look no further than an Alamo Drafthouse gift card. From January 26th to February 14th, guests can save 20% off all $50+ gift cards they buy online, the perfect gift for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day. Gift cards can be purchased at drafthouse.com/gift-cards.
Film fans looking for a little romance will find plenty of titles to choose from, both on the big day and in the weeks leading up to it. As far as first run films go, guests can enjoy Matthew Vaughn’s outrageous spy thriller, “Argylle”, Tr?n Anh Hùng’s sumptuous, award-winning romance, “The Taste of Things”, and Diablo Cody’s totally ‘80s take on undying love, “Lisa Frankenstein”. There will also be exclusive, eventized screenings for the latter two films at select locations, including “The Taste of Things” Feast screenings with multiple courses complete with wine pairings, and a “Lisa Frankenstein” ‘80s Costume Party with themed props. On the repertory front, Alamo Drafthouse will be showcasing the very best in love on film, such as an interactive “The Phantom of the Opera” Movie Party, a “Notting Hill” Brunch screening, and much more, including:
“Corpse Bride”
“Twilight” Movie Party
“The Best Man” Brunch
“She’s All That” Brunch
“Runaway Bride” Brunch

Along with that romantic lineup, Alamo Drafthouse will be covering both sides of the classic Dinner and a Movie date by delivering scratch-made food and drinks to guest’s tables, including a limited-time XOXO, Alamo menu, available February 13th to the 29th. Couples wishing to share can opt for A Taste of Two Things for Two, which includes an order of Chips & Queso along with two pints of craft beer. The menu will also include the Classic Love Burger and the Sour Agent cocktail, Alamo Drafthouse’s version of a whiskey sour inspired by the new film “Argylle”. If guests would like to take home a lasting keepsake, they can opt to pick up a limited-edition You Are The Chips To My Queso Pin Set, featuring two custom-designed enamel pins made to be shared with that special someone, à la friendship necklaces. Guests can order the pin sets to their seats or purchase them from the lobby, but they will only be available while supplies last.
Alamo Drafthouse will be keeping the love, and the cheese, flowing into next year with its You Are The Chips To My Queso Sweepstakes. One lucky winner will receive a year of free queso, with entries open from January 26th through February 14th. Full rules and entry can be found at drafthouse.com/news/free-queso-for-a-year.
Select Alamo Drafthouse locations will also host special events in their bars and lobbies. We Met at Alamo Drafthouse, a speed dating event originally held at the Wrigleyville location in Chicago, will be making its national debut at Alamo Drafthouse bars across the country. Other singles events such as Straight Date and Queers & Beers will also be held at select locations. Family-friendly fun can be found in select lobbies in the form of Cupid craft stations, complete with supplies to build your own friendship bracelets and Valentine’s Day cards.
