NEW YORK, NEWYOKR & DENVER, COLORADO ( April 23, 2026 ) -

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 “Live in HD” season continues with Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” in select U.S. theatres from Fathom Entertainment on Saturday, May 2, at 1PM ET. Soprano Asmik Grigorian, who made her acclaimed company debut as Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” in 2024, makes her Met role debut as Tatiana in a revival of Deborah Warner’s production. Also making their Met role debuts are baritone Iurii Samoilov in the title role, mezzo-soprano Maria Barakova as Olga, tenor Stanislas de Barbeyrac as Lenski, and bass-baritone Alexander Tsymbalyuk as Prince Gremin. Mezzo-soprano Larissa Diadkova reprises the role of Filippyevna. Conductor Timur Zangiev makes his Met debut.

Warner’s production team includes set designer Tom Pye, costume designer Chloe Obolensky, lighting designer Jean Kalman, projection designers Ian William Galloway and Finn Ross, and choreographer Kim Brandstrup. The production sets Pushkin’s story of unrequited love in the late 19th century, the period when Tchaikovsky composed the opera. The May 2 performance of “Eugene Onegin” will mark the opera’s 165th performance at the Met and fourth “Live in HD” transmission to cinemas worldwide.

Fathom Entertainment will also present two encores of “Eugene Onegin” in theatres on Wednesday, May 6, at 1:00PM and 6:30PM local time.

Tickets for “Eugene Onegin” are available online and at participating theatre box offices (theatre locations are subject to change). For more information, visit Fathom Entertainment.

Gary Halvorson will direct the “Live in HD” presentation for cinemas, and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermissions.
