Ticket presales tracking more than 65% ahead of previous Fathom record for the franchise; more than 400k tickets sold and $5m+ in Domestic Box Office revenue and counting for fan favorite trilogy
Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, and Warner Bros. Made exclusively for the Fathom Entertainment re-release, Jackson reflects on the making of each of the movies in “The Lord of the Rings Trilogy,” the journey of bringing Middle-earth to the screen, and what makes experiencing these stories in theatres so special in these never-before-seen custom introductions for each film.
“The Lord of the Rings Trilogy” has driven record Fathom presales for the franchise with more than 400K tickets sold and $5M+ in estimated domestic box office revenue to-date, more than 65% ahead of the previous record, last accomplished in 2024. About “The Lord of The Rings Trilogy”
Based on the revered “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” books by J.R.R. Tolkien, New Line Cinema’s epic six-film series directed by Peter Jackson has been embraced by generations of fans, earning $6 billion at the global box office and 17 Academy Awards, becoming the most awarded series in cinematic history. Set in Middle-earth, the series begins as Frodo Baggins embarks on a perilous mission to destroy the legendary One Ring, and an adventure like no other continues from there. In 2021, the Library of Congress selected “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. Following the first film’s milestone 25th anniversary in 2026, a new film, “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” is planned for release from Warner Bros. Pictures on December 17, 2027.
“The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” Extended Edition

Now Frodo, accompanied by a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, two men and three loyal hobbit friends, must become the greatest hero the world has ever known to save the land and the people he loves.
