A new Cinema Club designed to make specially selected quality films more affordable and accessible launches today in the UK
The Cinema Club, a version of a very successful Danish scheme designed to encourage people to go to the cinema more, is now available in the UK. Membership will normally cost £14.95 per season though it is currently discounted to £12.95 for those who join before November 30th. Members can see ten specially selected films at half price over a season running from Autumn 2025 to Autumn 2026.
The scheme is designed to put quality mainstream product in front of a wider audience and drive awareness of the titles over an extended time frame. The overall aim is to increase frequency of visits and rebuild the cinema going habit by providing a carefully curated film community.
Members can access The Cinema Club scheme in over 70 UK cinemas that cover the country from Merlin Thurso, Scotland to WTW Newquay, Cornwall. The cinemas involved are primarily the smaller independents and circuits – check out the full list The Cinema Club – Cinemas.
The first film in the scheme is Sony’s “The Choral,” the Alan Bennett and Nicholas Hytner release, starring Ralph Fiennes, out on November 7th, followed by “Giant” (True Brit) on Jan 9th, “H is for Hawk” (Lionsgate) on 23rd Jan and “Mother’s Pride” (Entertainment) on Feb 27th. The next six films will be finalised over the coming weeks.
Julia Brown, The Cinema Club says:
“We think the public will love The Cinema Club. There are some great films in cinemas that sometimes don’t get the attention they deserve and this scheme will make sure that the films in it are firmly on people’s radars.
The overall aim is to promote cinema-going and keep our much-loved local cinemas alive and kicking in towns and cities where they provide an important cultural and community function.
The response from both exhibition and distribution has been overwhelmingly positive with the former keen to sign up and the latter happy to suggest films for inclusion. The Film Distributors’ Association and UK Cinema Association have also been immensely helpful – we can’t thank them enough.”
