London Baltic Film Festival 2025 (LBFF), the only film festival in the UK dedicated to Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian cinema, will run from 7 to 12 November at The Garden Cinema.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary, LBFF has grown into a regular cinematic event in London and remains the UK’s only film festival wholly dedicated to showcasing the latest films from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
This year’s programme features six outstanding feature films, each reflecting the diverse stories and cinematic voices emerging from the Baltic region, and a specially curated selection of short films from Estonia. All screenings are followed by Q&A sessions, offering audiences the opportunity to engage with filmmakers, cast, and producers. Festival highlights:
UK premiere and the festival opener. “Renovation” follows Ilona, a 29-year-old perfectionist in Vilnius, whose life and relationships are unsettled as cracks begin to appear, both in her apartment’s facade and in her inner world as she meets a Ukrainian construction worker. The film premiered at this year’s Karlovy Vary Film Festival and was selected for its Proxima competition. Tickets available here.
UK premiere and Estonia’s official submission to the Academy Awards in the International Feature category. “Rolling Papers” explores the lives of young adults contending with uncertainty, purpose, and identity in a changing world. Tickets available here.
UK premiere. Based on the life of Latvian silent-era actress Maria Leiko, this gripping historical drama follows her decision to travel to Stalin’s Russia in 1937—and the consequences of her ideals, sacrifices and silencing. Tickets available here.
In a bleak hometown, two teenage girls forge a bond at a local modelling school, where the stakes escalate and their bodies become battlegrounds for aspiration, self-destruction, and escape. Locarno winner and festival darling. Tickets available here.
UK premiere. Set in 1933, this lyrical drama charts the journey of a woman who moves to the city and becomes entwined with the owner of a printing house, igniting a love story shaped by social forces and emotional risk. Tickets available here.
UK premiere. A coming-of-age story about millennials entering the crisis of their thirties, facing self-destructive tendencies before embarking on a journey toward responsibility, connection, and renewal. Tickets available here.
