CP2409-RBe projectors to be used for movie screenings at SXSW Sydney 2024
Christie is pleased to announce that Palace Cinemas, a leading Australian exhibitor with a rich history, has acquired the CineLife+ RBe enhanced laser projectors for its flagship multiplex in Sydney.
Located within the award-winning Central Park Mall in Chippendale, Palace Central is a contemporary, 10-screen cinema complex designed to deliver an unparalleled moviegoing experience. Featuring sophisticated comfort and the world’s first windowed auditoriums with breathtaking cityscape views, Palace Central sets a new standard for cinema.
In preparation for SXSW Sydney 2024, five of its auditoriums have been upgraded with Christie CP2409-RBe projectors, installed and commissioned by HOYTS Cinema Technology Group, ensuring exceptional picture quality for festival screenings. As the primary screening venue during the second edition of SXSW Sydney, taking place from October 14-20, Palace Central is poised to deliver a world-class cinematic experience.
“We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with HOYTS Cinema Technology Group and Christie, whose state-of-the-art projection technology has been integral to our commitment to delivering spectacular cinematic experiences,” said Benjamin Zeccola, CEO of Palace Cinemas. “At Palace Central, we strive to offer our guests not only comfort and elegance but also the very best in picture and sound quality. Upgrading our auditoriums with the Christie CP2409-RBe projectors ensures that we continue to set the benchmark for great cinema experiences, especially as we proudly host SXSW Sydney 2024.”
Adam Wrightson, Managing Director of HOYTS Cinema Technology Group, added, “We’re proud to partner with Palace Cinemas once again, bringing Christie’s advanced CineLife+ RBe laser projectors to their flagship venue in Sydney. With the installation of the Christie CP2409-RBe projectors, we are confident that Palace Central will consistently provide audiences with stunning visual quality and extraordinary viewing experiences.”
Brian Claypool, Executive Vice President for Cinema, Christie, commented, “Palace Cinemas has a proven track record of innovation, and their decision to deploy our RBe projectors keep them ahead of the curve. These projectors offer remarkable visual quality while providing excellent value through low maintenance, long-life performance, and high energy efficiency. We’re excited to see Palace Central use this technology to enhance their screenings for SXSW Sydney 2024 and beyond.”
In addition to Palace Central, a Christie CP2409-RBe projector has been installed at Palace Cinemas Raine Square in Perth, which offers luxurious handcrafted Spanish leather recliners and a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the cityscape. The impressive visual performance has prompted Mr. Zeccola and his team to acquire additional projectors for their flagship Sydney multiplex.
The DCI-compliant CP2409-RBe boasts 2K resolution, 9,000 lumens, and Christie’s highly efficient Phazer illumination to deliver enhanced image performance on screens up to 13 metres (43 feet). Its sealed light source ensures low-maintenance operation, protecting against dust and particulates, while providing DCI brightness for up to 50,000 hours.
Setting up the CP2409-RBe is quick and straightforward, thanks to auto-configure features, a motorized lens mount, and integrated electronic colour convergence (ECC) for perfect colour alignment. The CineLife+2K electronics’ user-friendly interface further simplifies operation, while integration with the Christie CineLife+ IMB-S4 and select third-party IMBs offers flexibility. With 236% more efficiency than Xenon models, the CP2409-RBe produces 9.4 lumens per watt, reducing energy costs and total ownership by 70%.
