James Gray To Write and Direct “Paper Tiger” Starring Adam Driver, Jeremy Strong, and Anne Hathaway for Leone Film Group and RT Features

The Veterans to represent the international sales rights and introduce at AFM next week

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ( November 1, 2024 ) -

The Veterans announced today that James Gray (“Ad Astra,” “We Own the Night”) will direct “Paper Tiger,” which is based on his original screenplay and stars Academy Award Nominee Adam Driver (“BlacKkKlansman,” “Marriage Story”), Emmy and Tony Award Winner Jeremy Strong ( “Succession,” “The Apprentice”), and Academy Award Winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérables,” “The Devil Wears Prada”). Leone Film Group will fully finance, with Raffaella Leone producing alongside Rodrigo Teixeira under his RT Features banner. Vincent Maraval and Kim Fox’s The Veterans will represent the international sales rights and introduce the film to buyers next week during AFM, while CAA Media Finance will handle the U.S. rights. The worldwide rights to the film are available.

With principal photography beginning Q1 2025, “Paper Tiger” is a tense and gritty story, two brothers pursue the American Dream—only to become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. As they try to navigate their way through an ever-more dangerous world of corruption and violence, they find themselves and their family brutally terrorized by the Russian “Mafiya.” Their bond begins to fray, and betrayal—once utterly unthinkable—now becomes all too possible.

Driver has been nominated for two Academy Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award. His acclaimed performances include “Marriage Story” and “BlacKkKlansman” as well as television’s “Girls.” His many film credits include “Ferrari,” “House of Gucci,” “The Last Duel,” “Annette,” “Paterson,” “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” “Logan Lucky” and “Silence.” He is widely known for his role as Kylo Ren in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy. He recently completed production on “Father, Mother, Sister, Brother” can currently be seen on stage at the Lortel Theater in “Hold On To Me Darling.”

Strong is an Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winning actor. He currently stars in Ali Abassi’s drama “The Apprentice,” for which his performance as Roy Cohn has been unanimously acclaimed. Strong is currently in production on Scott Cooper’s upcoming Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me From Nowhere.” Strong made his return to Broadway this Spring in “An Enemy Of The People,” for which he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. Strong won the Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in Jesse Armstrong’s award-winning HBO series “Succession.” His previous credits include Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” Adam McKay’s “The Big Short,” Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty,” and Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.”

Hathaway is an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and a Primetime Emmy Award winner. Her lauded films have included “Les Misérables,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” and most recently “The Idea of You.” She is currently in post-production on David Lowery’s “Mother Mary” for A24 and David Robert Mitchell‘s “Flowervale Street” for Warner Bros. She will next reprise her role in “The Princess Diaries 3” alongside Julie Andrews for Disney.

Gray’s feature debut was “Little Odessa” in 1994. He has since made seven other features including, “We Own the Night,” “Two Lovers,” and “Ad Astra.” Five of his films have competed for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
