CinemaWest Beach Cities grand opening coincides with the premiere of the highly anticipated Marvel movie, “Captain America: Brave New World”
CinemaWest and Continental Development Corporation (CDC) today announced that CinemaWest Beach Cities, a luxury movie theatre in El Segundo, will officially open its doors on Thursday, February 13, perfectly timed to coincide with the highly anticipated premiere of “Captain America: Brave New World.” The theatre – replacing the shuttered Arclight Cinemas located in CDC’s Continental Park mixed-used development in El Segundo – was completely reimagined, featuring flagship SCREENX and 4DX auditoriums, an all-new updated opulent interior, reappointed state-of-the-art auditoriums retrofitted with luxury recliner seating throughout, and a streamlined online ticket and concession-buying experience.
CinemaWest Beach Cities is the first theatre to open in LA County in 2025 and one of only a handful that are possibly opening this year, according to IJM Enterprises, one of the country’s leading experts in movie theatre development. IJM Enterprises believes the new CinemaWest Beach Cities will become one of the most successful entertainment destinations in Los Angeles.
“We are excited to have a flagship location in the South Bay with a theatre on par with private screening rooms at major studios,” said Dave Corkill, owner of CinemaWest. “From the start, our vision for CinemaWest Beach Cities was to provide a one-of-a-kind, luxurious movie viewing experience. With the super-premium 4DX and SCREENX theatres and Pink’s Hot Dogs, we have brought that vision to life.”
In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Pink’s Hot Dogs is the exclusive restaurant in CinemaWest Beach Cities. The standalone restaurant “Pinks and Drinks” will bring the iconic taste of Pink’s famous menu, as well as offerings of a full bar with beer, wine, and craft cocktails, to moviegoers and dining patrons. This will be the only place in America with a Pink’s Hot Dogs inside of a movie theatre.
“I am hopeful that CinemaWest Beach Cities will provide some much-needed joy for our greater community during these challenging times. I am excited that CinemaWest selected our location for its initial unveiling of this one-of-a-kind movie experience,” said Richard Lundquist, CEO of Continental Development.
The CinemaWest Beach Cities ScreenX theatre will be the first location located in the South Bay and Westside of Los Angeles. ScreenX’s expansive screen format is the world’s first multi-projection cinema system with an immersive 270-degree field of view. ScreenX enhances the movie-going experience by extending the image across the main screen onto the theatre’s right and left-side walls.
CinemaWest Beach Cities is currently finishing construction on the flagship 4DX theatre, which will be complete in early March. 4DX makes movies come to life by incorporating on-screen visuals with a variety of unparalleled motion seat effects, scents, and environmental effects like rain, lightning, fog and wind. 4DX provides moviegoers a multi-sensory experience that brings audiences closer to the movie like never before.
Both innovative formats, developed by CJ 4DPLEX, will make for a unique cinematic experience at CinemaWest Beach Cities. The CJ 4DPLEX combined network of ScreenX and 4DX premium theatres have now grown to more than 1,200 locations worldwide.
“CinemaWest Beach Cities is the ideal venue to host our new flagship, premium ScreenX and 4DX theatres in Los Angeles,” said Don Savant, CEO, CJ 4DPLEX Americas. “Together we’re continuing to redefine theatre-going and are thrilled to help drive audiences to this highly anticipated location.”
The theatre’s soft opening on February 10 and 11 will offer $5 admission to a “Best of 2024 & Recent Releases” lineup. All box office and concessions proceeds will directly benefit Variety: The Children’s Charity and the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Fund, which has been providing emergency relief grants in the wake of the devastating wildfires. CinemaWest and CDC will match the funds raised. Tickets can be purchased at www.web.cinemawest.com.
Pink’s has been one of Los Angeles’ most beloved culinary icons since 1939, with its original location still standing in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles. Known for its rich history and legendary flavors, Pink’s standalone restaurant at CinemaWest Beach Cities will be open to both moviegoers and the general public through an exterior entrance, and will offer a full menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, and milkshakes from its classic menu items at “Pinks and Drinks,” including its famous chili cheese dog, as well as a full bar.
“Pairing our iconic hot dogs with the magic of the movies is a natural fit. We’re excited to see ‘Pinks and Drinks’ become a beloved part of the moviegoing experience here,” said Richard Pink, owner of Pink’s Hot Dogs. “The beauty of how we designed this standalone restaurant is that you can enjoy Pink’s while going to the movies or join us for a sit-down experience at our restaurant – whether you’re going to the movies or not.”
CinemaWest Beach Cities joins an evolving and growing Rosecrans Corridor, which includes The Point, El Segundo’s premier retail and dining center; Mattel’s television and movie production studios; luxury South Korean automaker Genesis’ innovative design studio; Erewhon’s newest location, which is set to open in March; over 20 restaurants; hotels; the high-end Bay Club athletic facility; and the Manhattan Country Club.
