The Inspiring True Story of the Life of "Duck Dynasty" Stars Phil and Kay Robertson grossed over $15.7 million in an extended box office run
“The Blind,” the powerful story of true love, hardship and redemption, has become the most successful release in Fathom Events’ history. As of this morning, the faith-based film has grossed $15.7 million at the North American box office – holding a steady position in the top ten for the duration of its more than three-week box office run.
It is also the most successful feature film in Fathom’s history.
The film is Fathom’s first foray into giving a feature film a longer theatrical run than traditional event cinema content – and it did not disappoint. The film, originally slated for an eight-day run as part of Fathom’s new Specialty Distribution model, was extended twice (during the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert movie) and will continue to run in select markets even after today. The previous record was held by the theatrical screening of “The Chosen: Season Three – Episodes One and Two,” which grossed $14.6M at the box office.
“From the beginning, we knew how special this film was, and we were eager to support it in the best way possible,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “Giving the film a longer theatrical run was a great decision for Fathom because of how important it was to bring this message to the fans – it resonated with so many people, which is why ‘The Blind’ has had such staying power.”
The film was produced by Tread Lively and GND Media Group.
Fathom Events is coming off a successful run of events and announcements over the last week with the October 21 rerelease of 1985’s “Back to the Future” along with the kick-off of the seventeenth year of “The Met: Live in HD” with the October 21 performance of Jake Heggie’s “Dead Man Walking.” Fathom will also be partnering with “The Chosen” again, bringing the entire Season Four content to theaters first before it can be seen anywhere else – something that has never been done before. Fathom Events also kicked off its second collaboration with Bleecker Street Media with the recent trailer release for “Waitress: The Musical.”
