ShowBiz Cinemas are planning to reopen Texas and Oklahoma locations on May 18th

ShowBiz Cinemas announced today that it plans to reopen their locations in the states of Texas and Oklahoma on May 18, 2020. The entertainment chain issued the following announcement on their social media channels earlier today.

The safety of our guests and team members is the top priority, and we pledge to deliver our signature first class entertainment experience while providing peace of mind for each member of the communities we serve. ShowBiz Cinemas will be showing beloved older movies at a reduced price when they reopen in May. Then, in order to correspond with the majority of theatres being reopened nationally, studio distributors will offer mid-July blockbusters such as Christopher Nolan’s Tenet on July 17, followed by Disney’s much anticipated live action remake of Mulan on July 24. We look forward to welcoming back our team and our customers to all locations in the near future.

“This is a fluid situation subject to governmental and medical recommendations and mandates,” said Jeremy Devine, ShowBiz Cinemas Vice President of Marketing and Film. “Safety is truly the defining measure, and we will strictly adhere to governmental guidelines with an overabundance of caution.”

ShowBiz Cinemas will implement many measures designed to protect their employees and patrons. These measures will include, but are not limited to:

  • All staff will wear masks and gloves.
  • Initially, ShowBiz Cinemas will require patrons wear masks as well. Once in the auditorium, patrons may remove their masks if they want to partake in the concessions that will be on sale.
  • Employees and guests will be reminded to maintain social distancing protocols.
  • Tickets will only be sold for 25% of each auditorium’s capacity, increasing to 50% in later phases.
  • A full six feet of distancing will be employed on all seating patterns.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the building.
  • Every seat and surface will be disinfected between every show.
  • Before each shift, all employees will have their temperature taken. We do not intend to take the temperature of patrons.
