KinoNor has the pleasure of informing that all cinemas in our company as of January 2017 have been environmentally certified (“Miljøfyrtårn”). With this certification KinoNor is the first cinema chain in Norway, and possibly in the world, to obtain this kind of environmental certification. This confirms that the Norwegian cinema market continues to innovate and that we are ready to meet the requirements and needs of our guests.
Trondheim kino was certified already in 2011, and Aurora kino was certified during the summer of 2016. Edda kino was confirmed certified early January this year, ensuring that all KinoNor cinemas now are certified.
KinoNor obviously wants to take responsibility for the environment, but our experience so far has been that there is money to save by having a green approach to our operation. Through the process of getting certified we have made strategic plans for areas like work environment, procurement, energy, transportation, waste, emissions, noise and aesthetics.
“Some of our cinemas have had good experience with a green approach to their operation, therefore KinoNor found it natural to certify all the cinemas in our chain,” states CEO of KinoNor, Arild Kalkvik. “We see an increased focus on environmental issues in the international film and cinema industry and are therefore proud to contribute.”
Miljøfyrtårn is the most popular green certificate in Norway.
