London, UK ( September 25, 2020 ) -

UK-based film and TV financier and production company Goldfinch has announced it has agreed a Management Buyout of Rock Oyster Media (ROM) in which the company had a majority share. Original founder David Nottage and Head of Development Charlotte Davis will continue to run ROM under their own steam with Nottage as Managing Director and Davis in the Creative Director seat. Goldfinch will remain a key strategic partner, maintaining significant interest in the projects within the company to date and providing support for David and Charlotte’s ambition in any way possible. As part of the restructure, Goldfinch will double down on its production and financing of documentaries which has already seen the completion of Ronnie’s and Quant. Goldfinch will also continue to focus on supporting TV production companies from a finance, executive producer and strategic perspective. The restructure also sees Goldfinch’s former Head of TV, Eric Woollard-White moving on.

Goldfinch’s CEO Kirsty Bell said, “Our progress in the developing and restructuring at Goldfinch continues at a pace. David, and latterly Charlotte, have both done an amazing job in a very short space of time, establishing ROM as one of the go to regional TV producers. This shows that aggressive investment and working closely with broadcasters to identify opportunities in the schedule, can lead to rapid growth.  Our aim at Goldfinch is to support a range of companies and productions, ensuring the management teams are incentivised to achieve and to share risk is key. This, alongside our creation of our talent management hub The Koop, and several projects completed and in production, shows despite COVID 2020 has been a key year in our progress. We look forward to continuing our relationship with ROM and wish Eric all the best for the future.”

David Nottage, MD of ROM, said “We’ve had a flying start with the support and backing of Goldfinch, for which we are enormously grateful. We are delighted that both businesses will continue to benefit from the work we’ve done together. Charlotte and I now have the opportunity to develop Rock Oyster from our new HQ in Plymouth, Devon, growing the people-first, inventive, mischievous and proudly regional indie that we’ve both always wanted to work in. Watch this space for some exciting announcements in the very near future!”
